Inaugural Launch of The Green Awards™ Recognizes Social Change

Groundbreaking partnership to create impact at the community level

Minneapolis, MN, February 23, 2011- Effect Partners™ assembled a coalition of some of the country’s leading environmental organizations, with support from General Mills’® Green Giant® brand, to recognize individuals and groups across the country who are making a sustainable difference in their communities. This new campaign is called The Green Awards™, and it’s set to inspire green innovation nationwide.

The Green Awards™ will celebrate and reward individuals and groups who are creating a positive impact on the environment in their own neighborhoods and communities. In addition to growing sustainability initiatives and building public interest in environmental actions, The Green Awards™ create a platform for engaged citizens to highlight their community commitments and grassroots ideas.

Effect Partners™, the leader in social change marketing, bridged the gap between the leading environmental organizations and the Green Giant® brand to develop this groundbreaking, evergreen campaign. Effect Partners™ Founder Michael Martin says, “Americans are interested in learning about and supporting creative, easy solutions to sustainability, particularly in their own back yards. The Green Awards™ campaign engages the public by celebrating people who are creating positive social change and inspiring others to make a difference.”

Submissions are being accepted through March 6th, 2011. One finalist in each of the following categories will receive a $25,000 Grand Prize: Green Civic Leader, Green Entrepreneur, Green Local Organizer and Green Parent. The prizes will be awarded at The Green Awards™ Celebration in Los Angeles, California on May 13th, 2011. Online voting will be held from March 12th – 27th at www.THEGreenAwards.com . The Awards Board, comprised of leaders in the environmental community, was created to ensure that the award winning concepts generate a dynamic impact for the environmental community. Final judging from the Awards Board will determine the finalists.
